The Office for National Statistics (ONS) has indicated that wage growth in the UK is picking up.
Average earnings between August and October were up 1.6% on the year before, excluding bonuses. Including bonuses, they were up by 1.4%.
This is the first time in six years that both figures have been above the rate of inflation.
It seems that unemployment rates have also fallen, but at a much slower rate than earlier in the year, leading commentators to speculate as to whether improvement has peaked.
Unemployment is at 6% which is equal to lowest that it has been in the last six years, with 1.96 million people still without work.
